¡Bonne Nuit!
Boy was I tired this morning waking up with jet lag for our first full day in Paris. I dragged myself out of bed and down to get breakfast but was immediately reminded that I was in Paris and today was the day we were visiting Musée du Louvre, home of various beautiful artworks including the one and only Mona Lisa. The Mona Lisa has always been an interest of mine since I began learning about it in art and history classes. The painting by Léonard de Vinci is always interpreted in many ways which is why it is a masterpiece.
After Christian (our awesome tour guide) showed us the most popular works, we made our way to lunch. We stopped at a cafe where we all ordered either a caesar salad, french onion soup, or a croque madame (grilled cheese with ham, topped with more cheese). All of the choices were delicious. We continued a event filled day with a visit to Notre Dame. Here we say the majestic cathedral and various exhibits of different saints. One of the tour stops in the cathedral was the different stages of how and when the different parts of the cathedral were built and how they were built. This was especially interesting because it is always important to understand how one of the most visited and talked about cathedrals was built. Our entire group has done research and is aware of the current events that are plaguing France. We saw the forming of demonstration on our way back to the hotel. It is extremely important to understand what these demonstrations stand for as they can be used a learning tool in cultural and business environments.
Our groups day was one that will carry with us throughout our entire lives and teach us a lot about culture and art. I am looking forward to see what the rest of the trip brings and what kind of other French food I will try.
I'll be back!!
