August 15th, 2022. Time is 7:39. I just woke up from a 9 hour sleep, it’s time to get ready for breakfast.
Manhattan college has rented a hotel with a beautiful terrace on the top floor. So, for me, eating breakfast on the terrace will remain mandatory for the rest of my stay in Athens. After breakfast I planned to go on a solo exploration.
The group was delayed in Istanbul. Their flight got moved to 8:30pm. I hope everything goes well for everyone and they get to the hotel safely.
I don’t know how to express a feeling that I had back in that day, but it felt very exciting exploring something new. I was somewhat scared of getting lost but at the same time I was enjoying the European architecture mixed with modern art: old fashioned mixed with the graffiti but with style. I went “uptown” to see a lot of restaurants and different boutiques. I visited a square called Monastiraki where people from different countries sell all kinds of goods. In fact people can trade and sell on the square for a fee of 10 euros. After a little walk, I went to a Turkish restaurant called Shish. Being brutally honest, the food was ok, but the service was not as great as I expected. Place looks very luxurious on the outside and inside, however the looks didn’t match the quality.
10:35 PM I headed back to the hotel grabbing a gelato ice cream on the way. The weather gets cooler when the sun goes down, so I had plenty of time to finish my ice cream.
