Japan: Countryside in the City

Tokyo, Japan is one of (if not the) biggest cities in the world. What makes it so unique is the ability of the city to contain such a high urban density but also miles and miles of beautiful parks, shrines, temples, and the old Imperial Castle within it’s metropolis. All of these pictures are taken in Tokyo, showing you just how diverse the landscape is. These pictures below are collection taken at the Asakusa Shrine.

This shrine was right by a subway station and was very crowded by tourists and school children. There was a Starbucks you could see from the temple itself! The next collection are images of Meiji Jingu, which is often compared to Central Park. You would never guess this is also right next to a subway station.

But Tokyo is still a city! Here are a collection of pictures I took while walking around at night.

I can’t wait to explore more of Japan’s urban (yet not so urban) areas as we have just arrived in the city of Kyoto! The transportation system in Japan is truly amazing and very practical. You can get just about anywhere and everywhere is beautiful! I’m so grateful to be able to wander around such a beautiful country and get lost in the scenery.
