Venice: Wild Goose Chase (December 29th)

This morning, I was jolted awake by my alarm blaring at 9 AM. Naturally, I hit snooze and drifted back to sleep. Three hours later, I was dragged out of bed, literally, by my roommate, Jack, who was determined to get me into the city. I wasn’t exactly in top form, fighting off the onset of some mysterious illness, but I pulled myself together. We met up with two friends, Luca, our professor’s son, and Sienna for what was supposed to be a casual scavenger hunt around Venice. Our task was to find and photograph three obscure architectural secrets hidden across the city. Armed with limited knowledge and even less of a sense of direction, the whole thing felt more like a wild goose chase. But somehow, luck was on our side, and after much wandering we managed to check everything off the list. Just as we were celebrating our small victory, disaster struck. Jack realized he’d lost his phone. What was meant to be a lighthearted outing turned into a frantic race to track it down. The phone’s location was still moving, and so were we. I stumbled along, coughing and gasping for air, while Jack urged me to pick up the pace. As we sprinted down a narrow, metal bridge suspended along one of Venice’s iconic canals, our luck turned again. Four local Venetians flagged us down, phone in hand. They’d found it and waited to return it. Thanks, guys you saved the day.
