Rome: Forum Studios

Today for my FLM 213 class, we took a field trip to the Forum Studios. If you don't know what that is, think of that one episode from Victorious when Tori makes a song for Trina, then it becomes popular, and it ends up getting recorded in that music recording studio. If you thought that looked cool, think of 3 or 4 versions of that in one building, and that's what Forum Studios is. It's this recording studio that TO THIS DAY is one of the only music studios to perform all of their songs analogically instead of doing it digitally and having it come off a bit autotune. They don't do voice overs and it's open to EVERYBODY and I mean everybody. Even if you break all the glasses when you sing or someone's ears start bleeding because the singing voice is killing it, everybody is capable of coming in and rocking out carefully with the musical instruments. Another fun fact is that they record their musical stuff on tape especially with their historical projects because then they're able to capture the authenticity of the sound and have it match the era versus again, making it digital and having it come off a certain, distasteful way.

Attached to the studios is the theater, Forum Theater. Now this is NOICE. One thing that they do consistently is have their live in concert events there. Meaning, and this is an upcoming event in April, that they would play movies like Avatar and whenever there's any soundtrack or sound design, there's a live orchestra playing it as it belongs in the movie. I'm going because A, it's Avatar and you cannot hate the movie nor the franchise. If so, then not only are you doubting the legacy of James Cameron, but your taste in science fiction stories is unmatched. The theater was rebuilt from the ground up roughly 2 years ago, and is now the first immersive theater in all of Rome, and even though it's beautiful, it's low-key compared to others because they don't want to be the type to be show off-y and extravagant.
