Because this week is midterm week, so meaning I won't be having a lot to say because my nose will be glued to a book, my phone, or my laptop, I'll just yap more about more production/filmmaking I helped out with recently. Speaking of midterms, I had my Cinema one earlier today and it went surprisingly smooth. It just consisted of 10 questions that all dealt with the origin of Italian cinema and the amazing (and extremely controversial) filmmakers that paved the way for Neo-realism and other types of viewing. Nonetheless, I finished it within the hour and I kept it moving because a week from now, my black behind will be all up in Paris!!!
Anyways, let's talk film. I have my own student film being filmed this upcoming weekend and I'm actually very excited and nervous about it. For starters, it's a comedy so it's going to be messy and chaotic and silly, which will include my character wearing a Powerpuff Girls sweater and a long skirt with heels that absolutely do not fit my feet at all. Alongside that is a female character with fake facial hair provided by a Sharpie marker and baggy jeans that'll fall every 20 seconds. If it makes sense, great. If not, wait until I have it running on YouTube and you'll laugh, you better laugh.
Next is my friend Keegan's film, Charlie and Steve's Haunting Halloween Night with No Possession At All. First of all, they were going to use a Ouija board and if you know me, you know that me and magic don't interact at all, so I wanted no part of that. They (Keegan, Frank, Jayden, Paolo [YES, you're getting a callout]) all tried to convince me otherwise, but if there's good spirits in the world, there's bad spirits in the world. I don't care if it's fake, Amazon bought, through the Black market, it's not coming near me. So, I didn't participate in that, but besides that it went well. They had cats and even though cats are my biggest fear ever, I toughed it out and dealt with it, which I think went decent, but their cats are trained to not interact with people or at least me thankfully because they kept their distance. Fun fact, they have their own kitty bathroom which I found adorable.
Lastly, I filmed my friend Nalu's film, Are We Well? Let me just say, if my film doesn't win Best Film, I want hers to win SOOOOO BAD. It's so good, so funny (at least my scenes are since I actually didn't read the full script) and just so simple but carries so much within its simplicity. The thing that caught me off guard was the costumes because tell me why as a therapist, I'm wearing a purple collar shirt with a gold sweater that's extremely oversized with blue pajama pants and fake clogs. I loved the outfit, I just felt so funny in it which added to the comedy of my character, but also because everybody else wore the most basic, colorless outfits ever. Through the color clashing, it was a blast. I loved every second of it, the filming and the chit chats with the people, I hope I get to experience that in the future on film sets.
