Rome: but in Florence

This past weekend, I spontaneously decided to take a day trip to the beautiful city of Florence. Do I know why? Absolutely not, but after going on trips out of the country like London and Paris, I owed it to myself to see what's in Italy itself. Plus, everybody that's been there talks about how pretty it is, so why not see it for myself? Make sure that they're not gaslighting people into visiting somewhere that's ugly and gross.

So I left Saturday morning around 8 in the morning to make a long awaited journey from my apartment to the bus station because news flash, I live 2 hours away from it. I could've taken the train or taxied myself over there, but then that's additional money that I didn't feel like spending. Plus, why not get that good morning exercise and Vitamin D, so I walked the 2 hours to the bus station where I hopped on the FlixBus and started the 3.5 hour trip to Florence. I had a window seat and thankfully nobody sat next to me, which was luxurious because I never realized that A, the needed space I needed and B, there's no bathroom. I was mentally ready to pee in a bottle if I had to, but that didn't come into action so yay.

Bus took off at 10:40am and I got there around 2:10pm. We were late due to the amount of pit stops that were taking place, but I got off and had to walk an additional 2 hours to get to the heart of Florence. Where the bus stop was, it was nowhere near where Florence is where the beauty's at, so once I got to Florence Florence, first thing I did was went straight to a Five Guys and stuffed my face in a Bacon Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, and ketchup with a side order of spicy fries and a drink. Worth it, but not worth the price. After that, I was strolling through the streets til I made it to a museum that had a garden attached to it. Now, it was beautiful partially because so many people were sun bathing and just minding their business being at peace which I loved because it gave me such a calming feeling. After that trip, I walked across the Arno River which the river itself didn't impress me more so than the view you get to witness when on the bridge.

It reminds me of whenever I'm on the Brooklyn Bridge back in NYC in the sense that the bridge itself is one thing, but the sightseeing attached with a specific feeling you get is where the real attraction is at. Anyways, after that I did some trail hiking and witnessed the Rose Garden, essentially a place where nature's thriving because of the vibrant flowers and trees you get to witness. The higher you go, the more you see the view of Florence and it is PRETTY. I made it all the way to the top where it feels like you're seeing everything and to some extent, you truly are.

That was sort of it for me in terms of planned activities, and I just roamed a bit and made pit stops before I had to make my way back to Rome. Took the 9:25pm bus ride all the way back to Rome where I got dropped off at 1:10am, then walking an additional 2 hours back to my apartment. Can I just say, my feet never been worked like that before? My socks are witnessing holes in them, that's how worked my feet are. Nonetheless, the trip was amazing and super fun. Definitely needed and Florence is definitely gorgeous.
