From Dreams to Reality: My Early Adventures in Madrid!

I never imagined I’d have the chance to visit Europe so early in my life. Traveling has always been something I’ve loved, though I expected to pursue it later in life. That’s why I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity to be in Spain—exploring, learning, and enjoying every moment.

My experience so far has been a whirlwind of delicious food, guided tours, lively cities, and unforgettable people. One of the things that has truly amazed me is the architecture. From Arab and Gothic to Renaissance, Baroque, Neoclassical, and Modernist styles, Spain’s buildings are a beautiful tapestry of historical influences. Sometimes these styles stand alone, and other times they blend together to create something truly unique.

In Córdoba, we visited the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, a stunning palace once home to Queen Isabel and King Fernando. Just nearby lies the Roman Bridge of Córdoba and the Guadalquivir River. I was especially fascinated by the ancient water wheel, once used to transfer water to the palace gardens. It highlighted how vital water was to these historic spaces.

Inside the Alcázar, we learned powerful stories about its history, including its connection to Christopher Columbus, who met with the monarchs here before his first voyage to the Americas. Walking through the palace gardens, I was amazed to see preserved Roman ruins still standing after centuries. This experience has been not only educational but also deeply moving—an overwhelming joy to take in so much history firsthand.
