Madrid's Historical Landmarks

One of the main tourist attractions is located in the Puerta del Sol. El Oso y el Madroño, or The Bear and the Strawberry Tree statue, represents Madrid's coat of arms. 

La Puerta de Alcalá is another really famous landmark located in Madrid. This gate was once one of five royal gates that gave access to the city of Madrid. It is also located near one of Madrid's popular parks, El Retiro. 

A Day Trip to Toledo

The city of Toledo is known for its medical architecture. Toledo's historical connections and diversity date back to the time of convivencia, or coexistence, between Muslims, Jews, and Christians.

El Greco began painting this during the summer of 1577 and finished it in 1579. El Greco was a Greek painter who lived most of his life in Toledo and painted some of the most famous paintings, such as this image above.
