During my time in Italy, I had the incredible opportunity to visit both Rome and Florence, two cities that completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment we arrived, I could feel the history, culture, and energy of each place. My friends and I spent our days walking through the streets, exploring famous landmarks, discovering small local shops, trying new foods, and truly taking in everything around us. Every day felt full of new experiences, and no matter how busy we were, it never felt overwhelming, it only made the trip more exciting.
One of the most unforgettable moments of the experience was visiting the Colosseum in Rome. Seeing it in person was surreal. Pictures do not do it justice. Standing there and realizing how much history took place in that exact spot made the moment even more powerful. It was something I had always dreamed of seeing, and finally being there felt like a once in a lifetime experience.
What made it even more special was spending New Year’s Eve at the Colosseum. Celebrating the start of a new year with my friends in such an iconic place is a memory I will always cherish. The atmosphere was electric. The energy of the city, the excitement of the crowd, and the feeling of welcoming a new year surrounded by people I care about made it the perfect way to begin a new chapter.
Looking back, this trip gave me more than just great photos and souvenirs. It strengthened my friendships and deepened my appreciation for travel, culture, and history. Visiting so many beautiful churches, including St. Mary Major, and experiencing the Vatican, especially having the opportunity to see the Pope give a speech, made the trip feel even more meaningful.
I am incredibly grateful to Manhattan University and the Mark Family who helped make this experience possible. Their support allowed me to explore the world in a way I will never forget, and I truly appreciate the opportunity they gave me. I went into this experience excited, but I left feeling inspired, grateful, and forever changed by everything I was able to see and experience.
