My favorite day in Paris

This is an ode to a day that I will never forget. A day that was filled with culture, charm, and croissants! Our class started our day at the Louvre Museum. We were greeted by a rosy blue sunrise that cascaded into the courtyard of the museum. We toured the museum, seeing the greatest works, including the iconic Mona Lisa, The Wedding at Cana, and Liberty Leading the People. As I walked its great halls, I was awe-struck by each piece. Each piece was just as significant and elaborate as the last. A classmate and I would wander and discuss the pieces, marveling at the artist's talent. A perfect start to my favorite day.

After we concluded our time at the museum, we headed for the Arc de Triomphe, an iconic landmark we had yet to see. My friend and I hopped onto the metro and headed west for the Arc. During my trip, I found the metro to be extremely convenient and safe, something that I think the US could take into account. Once we arrived at the Arc, we were taken aback at its vastness. Unfortunately, the line was too long, and we were unable to go to the top, but nevertheless, we still enjoyed it. The Arc de Triomphe serves as a monument honoring those who fought for France and was commissioned by Napoleon.

By this time, we were starving, so we decided to wander around the area to find a nice cafe for brunch. We stumbled upon a small cafe where I got a delicious coffee and croissant. After we finished, we set out for another iconic Paris landmark, the Eiffel Tower. Once again, we grabbed the metro line to the Eiffel Tower. After arriving at the station, we didn't immediately go to the Jardin de la Tour d'Eiffel. Instead, we opted to start at the Parvis Droits de l'Homme, a human rights monument with a breathtaking view of the tower. We snapped some pictures and made our way to a bridge for some more picturesque views. On our way to the bridge, we were stopped and asked for directions to a nearby restaurant by a French woman. Luckily, with the help of Google Maps, we were able to send her in the right direction! After strolling across the bridge, we finally made our way through the gardens of the Eiffel Tower and arrived at its base. We passed many souvenir vendors and concession stands; it felt very similar to Central Park and home.

Next, we set off to stroll through the Champs-Élysées to finish off the day. The storefronts of the Champs feel like they are straight out of a movie. From designer to affordable, we explored them all. We stumbled upon an adorable coffee shop where we grabbed a much-needed pick-me-up while we practically shopped till we dropped. To finish off my perfect day, we grabbed pastries at the world-renowned Ladurée.
