¡Hola todos! My name is Juliana Mosca. I am currently an incoming sophomore at Manhattan University participating in the summer Study Abroad program in Madrid, Spain. This would not be possible without the help of the Major John H. Mark, Jr. '00 Scholarship. I want to thank Mr. And Mrs. Mark for their extreme generosity. During my time abroad, I plan to reflect Major John H. Mark’s values of caring for the community and trying new things. I have only been here for a short time so far, but by stepping out of my comfort zone and immersing myself in the Spanish language, I am taking steps toward becoming a bilingual educator. I am a Childhood/Early Childhood Education major with a Spanish concentration hoping to work in New York. While being in Madrid and getting to speak Spanish for two full weeks, I am beginning to gain fluency while learning the culture of Spain. This is something that is crucial in order to truly be able to support my future students in the diverse classrooms of New York City.
Here is a picture I took of myself and two friends I made during this wonderful trip standing outside of the Royal Palace of Madrid. Yesterday, we were given a wonderful tour of Old Madrid which has been my favorite part of this trip so far. I am so excited to explore Córdoba and Toledo in the upcoming weeks.
Thank you for reading about my experience so far!
Juliana Mosca
