York: Visiting the Past

One of my favorite days while visiting York, was the trip to the Bothswick Archives at University of York.

I loved our tour of the archives and being able to see how the different articles are stored. Some articles are store in a refrigerator unit to preserve films, and images, insuring no decay occurs. I found this very fascinating being able to touch the pages of parchment and being able to read documents from the 1400’s. The idea of these books and documents still having so much color and still able to be read is shocking to me.

A good majority of the documents were written in Latin. I took Latin for all 4 years of high school, I enjoyed being able to recognize some words and phrases from the old text using my skills I learned awhile back in high school. I am going to miss York so much and all that I have seen and learned. I cannot wait to hopefully go back one day.
