London Day 3

Day 3 in London
Today was a huge day. We woke up super early in order to pack in two days worth of travel into one. We hopped on the tube around 9 am and headed out to the globe theater. On our way we walked on the edge of the thames river which divides the north from south of London.

This was our first time venturing into south London. One our first night in London we had seen a Shakespeare play performed by a minimalist group. The play was the reenactment of a book that we had read for the class called Hamlet. While we were at the Globe theater we were theoretically sitting in the same seats that those who were seeing a original Shakespeare in person. The globe theater was quite a breath-taking experience as it was literally hard to breath because it was outside and super cold. The theater was situated outside and open as to best mimic the first and second globes, which both are no longer in existence.

After our tour with our tour guide Tony, we ended up inside the rest of the globe museum and walked around to look at different artifacts and informative pieces on Shakespeare.

After the tour and museum we continued on our walking adventures and walked across the river thames on one of the many bridges that cross the river. We walked to where the St. Paul’s cathedral was but did not really go in as it was 18 pounds to tour it. While we were outside we did see a couple get proposed it.
That lifted our spirits after having already completed walking about 8 miles on the day, all before noon. We then hopped back on the tube and went to where there was an open air market. These kinds of markets are some of my personal favorite as i love to try the different food samples and be able to taste little pieces of each food brand. I think I ate about 12 different kinds of cheeses.
To finish off the day after the market we took the tube again to the British Museum. Within the Museum we all got to see the Rosetta Stone which was the original piece that helped us to translate hieroglyphics.
