Bonjour!
As we enjoyed our weekend and the places we traveled to in Paris, for the start to our week we changed locations and decided to travel outside the city into Rouen, France. The purpose of traveling to northern France was because we had knowledge of another Lasallian University in this location. The purpose was to visit this university, learn how they operated, and meet with students and faculty.
At the beginning of the day we commuted from Paris to Rouen via the train system; this was much like taking the Metro North into upstate New York. When we arrived at our destination in Rouen, we met with two individuals that brought us through the city, taught us about what the city represents, and later guided us to the UniLaSalle. Along our walking tour of Rouen, we first learned that the city was very old and the significance of our visit was how John Baptist Da La Salle helped build the community by expanding on the schools through the Catholic church.
Our first stop was the to the Rouen Cathedral. (See image below) This was known as one of the most impressive Gothic churches ever built.
Once we finished exploring the work of John Baptist De La Salle, we continued through the city to go to the UniLaSalle. Upon our arrival, I saw that the school was centered around "Earth and Science". (See image below) Once we entered the school, we waited to meet with the Dean and other students. We were brought into a large conference room where we waited to meet with students from the school. Three students were introduced to us. We learned that the school was largely focused on agriculture, whether it be animal agriculture or vegetable agriculture. We also learned the system of how the university operated. The students at UniLaSalle complete four years at the school, with this, they have internships every single summer since arrival at the university. In the third year, the students choose to study aboard at different Lasallian schools offered in Philippines, Columbia, etc. As they proceed through the 4 years of school they are also learning the English or Spanish language to master it before they graduate the university. After meeting the three initial students, we interacted with a full class of students and played activities, to have them practice their English and for us to learn their experiences and about their culture through the conversations. This experience meeting with students at another Lasallian University and in France was so amazing to see how different cultures can be but how we are all able to interact with each other in the best way possible!

As we continued to walk through Roneu, we were brought to the location where John Baptist De La Salle first contributed to helping fund a school in the city. Unfortunately, while we were there, the school was getting reconstructed but it just went to show us how long and memorable the school was to the city. The images below show the reconstruction that was to be done to the school.
Very interesting Francesca!! The pictures allowed me to live vicariously through this visit all the way from America. This trip taught me a lot about Lasallian education in a global setting. Would recommend this visit 12/10.
