UAE Inclusivity: Through Aviation and Cosmetics

I'm extremely excited to have the opportunity to share a little bit about my experience with you!

Our day began with a trip to Abu Dhabi, to visit the Gulf Center for Aviation Studies. David Studden gave us an incredible workshop on the power of aviation, specifically in the UAE. The Emiratis want to change the stigma surrounding the Middle East and the aviation industry plays a huge role in doing so. It's about far more than just transportation, it's about creating a link between different cultures and societies.

Following our visit to the Gulf Center for Aviation Studies, we had a meeting with the founders of "CTZN Cosmetics." Three millennial sisters and their father created a cruelty-free, genderless cosmetics company that focuses on inclusion! The idea behind the brand is that any "CTZN" --regardless of gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc.-- who wants to enjoy their products can feel comfortable in the safe space they've created. For me, this meeting just further illuminates the common theme of inclusion within the UAE.

The total population in the UAE is 8 million, however 85% are not citizens of the UAE, which creates a melting pot of different backgrounds and values. Inclusion is a common theme I have experienced since arriving in the UAE, and I have been constantly surprised at how welcoming and inviting everyone has been.

To conclude the day, Professor JonScott Turco invited us all to the rooftop lounge to enjoy a spectacular view of The Marina. It's a site I will never forget and would recommend it as a top location that everyone must experience in Dubai!
