Italy: A Day in the Life of Jasper in Italy

As I boarded the plane to when I deplaned 8 hours later, I was amazed and stunned to see with my own eyes what a new country looks like and even being across the world. As we have already visited so many different amazing and beautiful pieces of history, literature and of course religious sites. My eyes are still set on the rest of the trip, as we continue to visit many different churches and digs and soon our road trip to Assisi. This entire trip has been amazing so far and all of this could not have been done with the help of the John H. Mark Scholarship. This scholarship really helped me envision myself in a place with a less impact on the monetary aspect, but the aspect of enjoying a school trip with friends 4,000 miles away.

This trip has really been a once in the lifetime kind of trip, seeing the architecture and the life of Italians in Italy is so much different from those in New York and the surrounding area. The way the people act to the way people interact is all so different. The class has been very informative with a lot of information then the sites help reinforce the concepts.

So I said I would give a day in the life of a Jasper in Italy, well here it is:

7:30 AM: Wake up and get ready for the day

8:00 AM: Get a nice breakfast from the hotel in the restaurant to help fuel my body for a long day of walking and exercising

9:00 AM: Start class in what looks like an embassy meeting room

10:00 AM: End class and gather things needed for the day's adventure

11:00 AM: Start the day off with some cappuccino and head to the metro to visit the Vatican

12:00 PM: Walk from the metro to the vatican, all around seeing each aspect, then taking a 800 step climb to the top of the Vatican dome, be careful though, the way up gets to be like an illusion with walking up sideways.

1:30 PM: Get some lunch from a local trattoria and enjoy a nice Italian pizza and some wine

4:00 PM: Head back on metro, go back towards the hotel, maybe stop and shop in some of the little mom and pop shops or a nice big mall area

7-8 PM: Have some dinner in the restaurant here at the hotel

10:00 PM: Wind down and get ready for another day of 20,000 steps (about 8-9 miles)

11:00 PM: Go to bed and get well deserved sleep

Repeat for 15 days :)
