Week long trip to Italy

Last week we had a week-long break from school for Easter. While on break, Brenna, Olivia and I decided to book a flight to Naples to explore the south of Italy. We spent 3 days in Naples and 4 in Sorrento with a day trip to Capri. Sorrento was truly a beautiful city, I loved our time there. Naples is more of a historic town with a lot of character. The food we ate throughout the trip, but especially in Naples was fantastic!

This was our first dinner out in Naples. We went to a restaurant called La Lazzara Trattoria e Pizzeria. This was my favorite meal of the trip. It was the most delicious pasta I've ever had! I highly recommend this spot if you find yourself in Naples.

On our next day in Naples, we walked around the whole city and spent a lot of time by the water.

The next day we hopped on a train and went down to Sorrento. Sorrento is a beautiful little town on the Amalfi Coast, that was a perfect place to spend our next 4 days. While in Sorrento we walked around, went shopping, tried limoncello, ate lots of food, did a cooking class, and took a boat trip to Capri. The highlight of the trip for me was our boat day out to Capri. We woke up early and headed down to the port where we got onto the boat and began our tour. We saw the Green Grotto, White Grotto, Arch of Love and so much more on the tour. We then had about 4 hours of free time in Capri. The first thing we did was take a bus to Anacapri (a town above Capri) to ride a chairlift up the mountain to see the island below. It was gorgeous. After this, we went back down into the town, had some lemon sorbet, and shopped! We shortly headed back to the boat and began our tour on the back half of the island. We even got in the ocean! It was freezing but definitely worth it, the water was so clear and blue that we just had to get in. After our swim, we headed over to the Blue Grotto and patiently waited in line to transfer onto a little row boat and enter the cave. It was a super cool experience.

This is Olivia, Brenna and I with the Arch of Love behind us.

This was the bus sign next to the bus stop we took to Anacapri.

This is me up on top of Segovia Monte Solaro. The view after the chairlift was beautiful. I highly recommend you do this if you ever travel to Capri.

The above photos were taken from the dock where the boat picked us up. It was a beautiful day out. Shortly after being picked up we went for a swim just off the coast of Capri. It was a very surreal experience to be fortunate enough to do something like this.

The next day in Sorrento was Easter Sunday. The town was buzzing with lots of tourists, but we ended up signing up for an authentic cooking class where we learned how to make cheese ravioli, spaghetti, mozzarella, and eggplant parmigiana. It was very cool to see how the process works, I can't wait to try and make it again once I get home!

After our cooking class, we walked around town and went into the little shops lining the street. While on the street we found a little art shop where Brenna and I bought canvases' of handmade art. We were also fortunate enough to meet the artist himself! He was a 76-year-old man born and raised on the Amalfi Coast.
In the top left corner, you can see the piece I ended up choosing! It's a landscape oil painting on the coast of Sorrento.

We spent our final night in Sorrento on a rooftop bar where we watched the sunset over Mount Vesuvius, it was a great way to end our trip.

Sorrento is a beautiful quaint town. I had the best time here and I feel very fortunate that I was able to experience it. I cannot recommend enough that if you are able to, take a trip down the coast of Italy. Sorrento is not as well-known as Positano, however, it has so much beauty and character. It is also in a versatile location; about 40 minutes from Positano, an hour from Pompeii, and about 2 hours from Naples, which are all easy to reach by train or ferry. My time abroad has been going by so fast, but I've made the best memories and experienced such amazing things. I'm truly so appreciative of this opportunity.
