Florence, Italy: First few days in Florence

I’ve only been in Italy for 3 days but I am already loving it so much, especially the gelato. We got into Milan early in the morning and drove to Florence. The views while driving to Florence were pretty, especially once we hit the Tuscan region. Our first day was just spent exploring our area near the sisters’ convent which is where we are staying.

On Wednesday, we ventured over to the Uffizi gallery and looked at all the gorgeous artwork. There were many paintings done is the Annunciation with Mary. I saw the famous Venus painting done by Botticelli in this gallery too. After the museum, a group is us went across the river and ate at a lovely Italian restaurant, 4 Leoni. The pasta and wine was delicious.

Today, we went to Fiesole which is a town 20 minutes up in the hills from Florence. The town was small but the views of Florence were so beautiful. I could see the whole city of Florence from Fiesole. We also went into a Romanesque church which was very nice and into a Franciscan church. Tonight, we will have another delicious dinner at Il Teatro and will get to try their desserts too.

Florence has been wonderful so far with its great food, great gelato, and great history. I am excited to continue to explore other parts of Florence and neighboring towns in Tuscany.

Ciao,

Anna
