On January 27. 2024 we started an early morning adventure to Firenze! My roomates Brianna, Rachel and I left our apartment in Trastevere,Rome at 8:45 am! We got on an hour and half trainride and entered a beautiful new city very different from Rome around 11:30am!
When we arrived in Firenze, we headed straight to the Duomo! I couldn't believe my eyes!
It amazed us how much detail and time was put into creating this historical site! The colors were incredible!
The Duomo, was formally known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the magnificent and iconic landmark located in the heart of Florence, Italy. It is one of the most famous and recognizable cathedrals in the world, renowned for its architectural beauty and historical significance. Take a look below!
Of course we had to get inside! We climbed 463 Stairs to get to the top! Getting to walk along side the massive dome it self and seeing all of the art work designed by the famous Filippo Brunelleschi up close was so interesting, everything was perfectly detailed and was unlike I had ever seen before!
After the hike to the top and the steep steps down we worked up an appetite, and headed to the famous Sophia Loren's restaurant I ordered Linguini pasta con le Vongole (Pasta with Clams)! It was absolutely delicious!
After dinner we continued to walk towards to Via D'oro which was a row of all jewelry stores. It was a very busy street with Lots of bright lights and shiny diamonds, we were told to hold our bags close to us because this is where most pick-pocketers hide!
Finally, we headed to Mercato della Pelle. A leather market, that sells real leather goods both inside and outside stores.
Then got some gelato and went back home to Trastevere! Returning in the train I fell asleep after walking 9 miles around Florence!
See you back here in a few weeks as I travel to places like Sardegna, Paris, London and Croatia!
