Singapore: The Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur

On Thursday, January 4th. We began our day in the hotel and strolled over to the Petronas Towers, the largest structure in Malaysia. Towering 88 floors above the ground at a height of 1483 feet, the Petronas Towers are a really amazing sight. The towers are connected by a sky ridge which is 556 feet above the ground. which proved to be a delightful experience as we captured pictures overlooking Kuala Lumpur. Following our time on the Skybridge, we visited the observation deck where additional information about the towers was available, providing an even more breathtaking view of the city. We spent about 15 minutes there, exploring a small diorama depicting the city's layout. It was fascinating to identify various landmarks and comprehend the city's layout simply by observing.

Personally, the most captivating aspect for me was mapping out the intricate details of the city, distinctly different from New York. Kuala Lumpur features towering skyscrapers juxtaposed with small communities, creating a unique urban landscape. One particularly interesting spot was a small Malay community just across from the Petronas Towers, connected by a small bridge. Inquiring about the community, our guide informed us that the residents, having been there for generations, were unwilling to sell the land. The land's value was estimated at $5 billion, attracting numerous developers due to its proximity to the Petronas Towers, a major tourist hub with malls, office buildings, and amenities expatriates desire.

My experience overall in Malaysia was extremely eye-opening and I one day would like to come back maybe as a solo adventure and see the entire country. The people and the food were amazing and seeing a developing economy in action really made me think more deeply about the West and what we have available to us.
